They know that every country in the world has people who hate them and want to kill them. They are TIRED of America, tired of their own country, bored with themselves, and sad about where they stand in the world. They have lost much hope in all the terrible politicians of the last 30 years. In America today, where I live, many people have now become very complacent, very "lazy" about their country. Yes, I know you work for hte money but you did something important even if you don't realize it. I really think you captured something very important in that commission. I want to just give you praise and words of encouragement.Īnd I want to say something to your heart that I hope will make you happy. I have been reading your posts and I was very impressed with your work for Buffalo and Co. In the videos I tried to indicate the main milestones of the cross-hatching drawing process which might be interesting for those who want to know more how to draw cross-hatching. In this post I will show you the final illustrations as well as a few videos I created specially to show you the process of drawing wild animals beginning from a pencil sketch to the complicated illustrations which have been made using the cross-hatching drawing technique. They wanted me to draw fish ( a bass and a rainbow trout), birds ( mallards (wild ducks)) and big animals ( a bison and an elk). So they needed cool wildlife drawings to create classy t-shirts with the wild west feel. The company specializes in a kind of a patriotic clothes design for hats, shirts, t-shirts, polo shirts etc. I was hired by Buffalo and Company, Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA to create illustrations for their new American wildlife t-shirt series label. Peace out folks and have fun.In today’s blog post I want to write about my last illustrator and artist commission to draw wild animals of North America. I will be back momentarily with more drawing fun so keep your eyes peeled back to see what I bring you next. It is time that you start this lesson on “how to draw an elk step by step”. Well I think that is enough information for now on the elk and or wapiti. There are some places in the eastern parts of the United States that are trying to bring back the elk population by bringing small herds into the wilderness that is heavily wooded and sheltered to try and keep hunters from stopping the efforts of repopulating the states. Elk today can be found in places like Wyoming National Elk Refuge and in Yellowstone National Park. These animals are amazing and it’s sad that they were once killed off in almost all of North America. It is an interesting fact how the older males dominate over small herds. These games determine which elk will walk away with the cow of their choice. Now it is the elk that stripes the velvet off their antlers to prepare themselves for battles that can sometimes be deadly. Now like all antler dwelling animals, when the antlers of the elk grow back they have a protective velvet that covers their horns. They travel in groups called “gangs” and this means that they stick together in numbers. Depending on their size, these forest grazing mammals can weight to be over one thousand pounds easy. These animals are of course herbivores and in the wild they can live to be twelve years old if they are lucky. Each female elk will only give birth to one calf every year. In fact during the summer, they will move up to the mountains where it is cooler, and so that the females, and or cows, can give birth to their young. Now elk have no hesitation about grazing in the cold winter months when the grounds are frozen and full of snow. But they do start growing back in May just in time for mating season during the summer months. An interesting fact about these animals I never knew is that, even though their antlers can reach up to four feet in height, they wined up loosing their large antlers every March month of the year. The antlers of an elk grow above its head, which is how they obtain added height. The male, which is called a bull, grow antlers that reach four feet tall increasing their height making them a whopping nine feet tall. Though these animals are related to deer, they are much, much larger than them. The Native Americans call the elk “wapiti” which in their tongue means “light colored deer”. This may be because they are part of the same family or cousins. If you look at a deer you will see that there is some strong similarities between the two. Now the elk is sometimes confused with the deer and reindeer. My next tutorial is going to show you "how to draw an elk step by step". I can tell this by the hits that they accumulate. Well, it looks like the lessons that I have submitted thus far are well liked.
